KIRKUS BOOK REVIEW In Krummenacker and Caminiti’s paranormal thriller series starter set in the Civil War era, an Irish immigrant on a spy mission fights monsters and discovers a new superpower. The story opens on a man named Jacob Long, who’s carrying his infant daughter in a blizzard, encountering a great beast called a Skinwalker, which gains different powers depending on what pelts it acquires. The creature protects the child when a pack of monsters attack. Readers soon learn that the monsters are under the control of a mysterious figure working with an assassin named Lansford Hastings. The plot transitions to the main character, Keefer O’Connor, an Irishman who’s made a name for himself as a military strategist. He’s assigned a mission to assassinate Gov. Fredrick Low of California if he sways from his antislavery stanc...

The original baddies are back in the 5th book of Helen's "Forever Detective" book series... Once upon a time, Rafael Jones was just another guy back from the war, starting up his own business. But because that business was a detective agency, he took a case that led him face-to-face with a pair of monsters. One of those monsters, Grigori Rasputin the legendary Mad Monk of Russia, chose him to join their ranks and made him a vampire. But Rafael struggled against their 'gift', drove them from New York, and has continued to seek a cure, while holding onto his humanity in spite of his new condition. But now those who turned him are back, and it seems like a new nightmare is about to be unleashed on a particular part of the city's population. Rasputin, the vampire with religious mania, has turned his attention to those he acknowledges as God’s first Chosen People… the Jews. And now Rafael has to race against time and find out exactly what Rasputin has planned for t...

Birth of a Series Part 2 - "What IS a Para-Earth?"

Image
In my last entry I explained how I had settled on the idea of Parallel Realities for the premise of the series.  But what could I do with it that was new and different? Well as Doctor Who would say, "This is where things get a bit tricky."       We all know that a lot of choices are man-made, but events are also a major player in our world and our lives.  There's an old school of thought that says, for whatever choices we make another alternate timeline exists where a version of ourselves exists who follows the path not taken.  I began pondering this concept and asked myself, "What if not just choice could lead to a parallel reality?  What if events that didn’t happen in our reality, did happen in another reality?  And what might be the consequences and effects of that event?"  This idea really intrigued me and I began to think about the concept on a much LARGER and OLDER scale...      Current theory says that that moon ...

An Early Christmas Gift...

Christmas is only a week away, and Santa told me you've all been very good this year. So with Helen's permission, I'm sharing the 1st and 2nd audio chapters I narrated of   "Forever Festive" , the 4th book in her Forever Detective Series, which is available now for Kindle, Kobo, Apple, Nook, and Trade Paperback.  Unfortunately, due to time and work constraints, I'm still editing the last few chapters of the full audiobook itself, which means that version will not be available until early next month. In the meantime, we both wanted to give you these chapters as a sample of what you can expect in her vampire detective's first holiday adventure. Enjoy...  Chapter 1 - "Harold T Angel" Chapter 2 - "Appropriate Decor" You know books make a great gift, or nice little something to fill some stockings, and you can get "Forever Festive" (or any/all of the Forever Detective Books) right now in e-book or a trade paperback (at Amazon and ...

Free (Sound) Sample Saturday

Image
Starting today it's Free (Sound) Sample Saturday over on Helen's Blog "The Forever Detective". What is Free (sound) Sample Saturday? Simple, it's where she shares a chapter (or two in this case) from the Audible version of her 1st solo book "Forever's Too Long".  A mystery involving vampires in the noir setting of 1947 New York City.  And since I've been posting for months about doing audiobook recordings, I felt it was only appropriate to share this with you since "Forever's Too Long" is my first complete voiceover project. That's right you'll be hearing me narrating the story, and supplying the voices voices for the entire cast. Furthermore, next week we will be sharing the 2nd chapter and so on in the following weeks. Some come and take advantage to check out the Prologue and full 1st Chapter of this 5 star rated series and see what everyone is talking about, by clicking on the link below: https://www.theforeverdetective....

My First Narrator Performance Is Available Now On Audible

Image
Well, after all these months of posting about making an audiobook, it's finally happened... I am now the newest voice actor over on Audible! To be honest, the reality of it is still kind of sinking in for me. We got the word on Tuesday, the day before Helen's and my 31st wedding anniversary. And it just seemed so perfect in so many ways. As you all know Helen wrote "Forever's Too Long" as her first solo novel, and she had me do the artwork for the cover. We've always been a team and we've always support each other in so many ways, so seeing this culmination of her writing skills, combined with my penchant for voices become a reality on the eve of our wedding anniversary just seemed so appropriate. To be honest, I'm still in shock over here. The idea of being the voice for an audiobook had been simmering in my mind for about a year or two before I actually tried it. A co-worker of mine who knew and loved our Para-Earth books kept tellin...

****RELEASE DAY - "Forever In Deep****

Image
Book 3 of the Forever Detective Series is now available Rafael Jones is always a little out of his depth in rural settings, but he's not just a detective, he's also undead. He can't ignore the call from the Saratoga County coroner when she mentions the bite marks found on several drowning victims during the spring and summer of 1947. However, he knows his weaknesses (sunlight, running water, and a woeful lack of country manners), so he isn't working alone. His slowly developing powers and quick wits may not be a match for something old, strong in magic, and completely cursed. Available now in all e-book formats for $3.99 at: Kindle link:  https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0894513Y4 Nook:  https://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/forever-in-deep-helen-krummenacker/1137077012?ean=2940164087760 Kobo:  https://www.kobo.com/us/en/ebook/forever-in-deep Smashwords:  https://www.smashwords.com/books/view/1024000 Kindle UK Link:  https://www.ama...

Gifting E-books...

Image
This entry may seem to be a repeat but every year I get asked about how to gift e-books to someone. So here you all are and I hope everyone takes advantage since giving someone a tale they will love can be priceless sometimes... Okay gang, the big day is drawing near and you still want to get a few more gifts but don't know what to buy, or don't want to go out into the stores which have already pulled down half of their displays and are lining up Spring stuff. What to do, what to do... how about giving someone a good book to read on their Kindle? It's fast, easy, and you can have it delivered on Christmas Day and know it will arrive on time...                                    Didn't know you could do this? Neither did I for the longest time. I only found out a couple of years ago when we released "The Vampyre Blogs - Coming Home". I found myself rewarding some of our beta-readers with a...

COMING TOMORROW (December 1st), The Next Installment of "THE FOREVER DETECTIVE" Series

Image
Just in time for the Christmas season, a good old fashion ghost story is the theme of Helen's second solo book... The year is 1947 and private investigator Rafael Jones has already learned the hard way that the supernatural is all too real. Having been turned into a vampire, albeit one who has no problems with holy objects, he's trying to continue working as a detective. While back on the continent his Interpol love, Clara Thomas, is using her considerable "occult" contacts to find a way to help him. In the meantime he has a new case to deal with. A friend has asked him to prove a mansion he's inherited is NOT haunted. Unfortunately, it is and the ghost has reached out to Rafael for help and justice.  Can our hero find answers to a 20 year old cold case no one knew about? Can he find the Prohibition gangster who murdered the young flapper? And can our boy survive the fact that he's not the only one who knows about supernatural beings and how t...
