Just A Quick Note...

Sorry for the lack of blog entries recently.  I know I was doing like one a week, but college is keeping me busy right now.  So I'm slowing down for a couple of weeks.  Finals are coming up, along with a couple of dance performances as well.  Plus, I'm starting my new job so please bear with me for a little while and once college is out of the way, I can get back to regular entries.  Until then take care and keep writing everyone.

    I know how it is Allan, it's hard to keep up with everything! I try to post regularly twice a week, but coming up with ideas to post is tough too! Good luck and hope you can get back on track soon.

      Thanks Lisa, I hope for things to quiet down after these next 2 weeks. After that, then I just have work to deal with and no college. So I should be able to get back to a more regular posting and writing schedule.

The Importance of Editing....

The last 7 days have kept me busy.  I mean REALLY busy.  And the sad thing about it all is that some of this could have been avoided....up to a point.  Now I'm talking about re-editing my first novel AFTER it had already come out.  Why would I do that?  Because in spite of the combined efforts of myself and 2-3 other people checking the novel over for grammatical errors, a number of them got past all of us.  From day one, I was determined to try and put out as good a product as I possibly could.  And when I found out I'd failed, I felt obligated to go back and fix things. Getting On Bookshelves...

Okay, yesterday was a big day for me.  My novel "THE BRIDGE" is now available in two 'brick-and-mortar' bookstores.  How did I make this happen?  Are sales jumping through the roof?  Is my name out there so much that fans are demanding it be available everywhere?  Two words.... I WISH! No, the simple truth is when you're an Indie Author (someone who has published through Createspace or other means to make a printed copy of your book), you have to do a lot of things yourself.  One of them is marketing and getting your book into stores.  Now, if you've done a good job marketing and your sales on Amazon and Barnes and Noble websites are going really well, you might land up in bookstores.  Some chains look to those sites to see what's the hottest sellers going and is it available in print form.  They don't want to be left out of the loop and fall behind.  But you have to have great sales for that to happen.  But if you're just star...

Book Review: "Cat Playing Cupid" number 14 in the Joe Grey Mystery Series....

My rating: 5 - STARS This fourteenth outing for the Joe Grey Mystery Series was fun and intriguing for me. While I haven't read the full series yet, I did read the earliest books and was quickly drawn into this wonderful world where some cats can speak and think on par with humans, while others cannot. Miss Murphy keeps each story building on this mystery either slightly or heavily.  In this case it was more heavily focused on while at the same time dealing with a classic whodunnit.  What is the connection between a body, dead 10 years, up in Oregon have to the mysterious disappearance of a local man who was going on a hike locally?  And when a second body, also dead some 10 years, is discovered in an unmarked grave the big questions arise. Could this one be the missing local man?  If not, then who is it?  And why were they buried with a book that frightens the speaking cats, because it contains hints about them? These are just a few of the questions...
